The “Catch” with Chad Harmon
Being an avid musky fishermen and a guide being out on the water all the time is truly a blessing from the beautiful sunrises, sunsets, the scenery, the wildlife and most of all seeing those big slimy hogzillas hitting the net. I get to spend time with awesome clients on the water with whom some of them you develop friendships with over time. This happens to be the case with this particular instance. Shelley and Alex are some of the most genuine, nicest people you’d ever meet and I’m truly happy for her catching such a trophy. The beginning of December the shad were stacked thick in open water with musky cruising the schools. The fish were acting super neutral and we couldn’t get them to go on artificial baits so I made the decision to net some shad and put down some large ones on a Trophy Time quick strike shad rig. It wasn’t long and the clicker started slow rolling…. The hook was set and the fight was on! Shelley boated her personal best 50.5” musky! What a day it was because it was her birthday to top it off. We ended up going one for three using this technique that morning with losing the other two at the net which were both quality fish one being an upper 40’s and the other a mid 40’s. You can’t win them all but I sure am glad they boated this one.
