Smity Bait Company is bring back the original Gries Top Kick!
Around 1980 Dick Gries came out with the Striker lure, soon after the topkick came out and it was a big hit at the time. Bruce Schwengle was a buyer for Dorn Hardware in Madison WI, they sold tons of Dick’s lures. Dick and Bruce fished together and Dick decided to end his guiding career along with the lures. So Bruce purchased the lure company, unfortunately Bruce became ill and passed away he made and sold very few lures. The company and many finished lures, components and parts sat for 17 years, Bruce’s brother Paul contacted Smity and sold the lure company to Smity and Jake in 2010. Smity started immediately selling the lures and building them. In 2011 the Striker was the Musky Hunter collective lure and 2012 the Topkick in Baby Duck was the Musky Hunter collective lure. Smity only has offered them in 4 colors but has now expanded to 10 new colors. All 10 colors are now available at Musky Shop, Team Rhino Outdoors, and Thorn Brothers.
