Local Media: A Rotarians Musky Challenge has raised over $100,000 for area non profits.

This article comes to us from the La Crosse Tribune in Wisconsin.

Al Louis is a local business owner and philanthropist and for the last three years he has turned his Musky Catches into money for local Charities.  What a very cool idea!!!

Here’s how it works:

  1. He gets local businesses, friends, family members, and other individuals to pledge a certain amount of money per each Musky he catches throughout a season of Mid July into September.
  2. He averages 2 fishing trips a week and captures photos of all of his catches.

This year he was able to catch his personal best just over 54 inches which also happens to be just shy of the state record.  He hopes to beat that someday.  This year he caught 9 musky.

The inaugural challenge produced just over $4,000.00, last year just over $45,500.00, and now this year he raised over $100,000.00.  Add a little icing to the cake (in a sad way) this year was dedicated to a late friend and Rotarian, David, who actually helped Louis start the Musky Challenge.  This year he fished on Lake Vermillion in Minnesota.

Way to Go Louis!  What an awesome program and great way for giving back to your community!  We here at Musky Hunter commend you!
