Guide Lines with Kurt Kimpton: Castle rock/Wisconsin river fishing report

Temperatures soared to the 80 degree mark for the southern Wisconsin musky opener this past weekend. Water temps on the main lake and in the main river channel ranged from 52 to 55. Early mornings before the heat set in I found the fish to be ultra shallow in less than 3 fow. Small bays and back slough’s where the water temps ranged from 55 to 58 is where I located fish. Presentations that were thrown were small bucktails, glides and small cranks/twitch baits. All my action was on bucktails. Putting 2 solid fish in the net and 1 follow opening day. Later in the afternoon when things warmed up a lot!!! The fish moved deeper and shut off. I was able to mark them on side imaging but was unsuccessful at getting them to eat. Sunday morning i was only out until noon and it was pretty much a repeat of Saturday. We located fish ultra shallow and got bit on a small bucktail but unfortunately lost the fish at net. I did not fish below either dam but heard reports of some fish being caught on rubber.
