Guide Lines with Jeremy Burris: Fox River Report

A sweltering heat wave swept across northern Illinois resulting in sky rocketing water temps in the Fox River below the Fox Chain O’ Lakes. Once stable 60 degree temps for several weeks have risen to the mid 70s in a blink of an eye due to the ultra low water levels. The bite has been tough and hit or miss this week, I believe due to the severe weather change. Once the weather stables back out the bite should be back to normal.

The muskies I have came in contact with have been following low and slow and not wanting anything fast. Twitch baits have gotten follows but the Llungen Lures Nutbuster Jr. Spinner bait slow rolled has got the bites. Casting around highly oxygenated water near rocks has been the most productive. Moon windows have also been key so if you are planning a outing pay attention to the moon phases

Good Luck,
Jeremy Burris
