Cave Run, KY – Musky Road Rules – RECAP

Musky Road Rules hosted a Cabin Fever Clinic yesterday in Cave Run, KY.  We had about 20 guests in attendance for the seminars throughout the day.  Guests from speakers on different topics which are listed below.  Thanks to all of our sponsors supporters, without them these clinics would not be possible.  To see where we are next go to our website.  If you are interested in signing up for a clinic – click on the red button from our homepage and scroll down to the clinic you are interested in attending.  A wealth of knowledge is offered at these clinics as well as door prizes and raffles throughout each day.

First up in the day was Cody Greenwell.  He discussed how to use electronics while on the water.  He offered his opinion in how to best setup your boat for the optimal on the water experience.  He continued his presentation with differences in equipment, what he thought the best on the market is right now, and how to read those screens.  His presentation included demonstrations of the side scan, down imaging, and panoptix- this presentation was MONEY!  Way to go Cody – Thanks for a being a part!

Next up, Jason Jackson from West Virginia.  He gave a demonstration on River Fishing.  He went into depth on fishing in currents and some of his own tricks and trades of fishing on both large and smaller bodies of water. Thanks Jason – great presentation!

Lunch was provided by Smokin’ Joes  – mmmm the great pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad – you missed out on this meal for sure!

After lunch, we started the afternoon with a presentation from Tony Grant (our MC for the event and Co-editor of Musky Hunter Magazine) on rattle baits.  He stressed setting up the bait correctly and how to use in the water.  He also shared how effective he believes rattle baits are while out chasing the elusive Musky!

Following his presentation, Tony introduced Tim Barker and he spoke about trolling casting as a guide on Cave Run.  He shared his opinion on mixing it up and not getting stuck in what you know.  Try something different! Great Job Tim!

We rounded out our day with a presentation from Gregg Thomas, Co Editor of Musky Hunter Magazine, on trolling basics and how to set up the boat for trolling multiple rods.  He also included where you can fish more rods and what restrictions might be faced in different parts of the country and Canada.  He went on to share what type of baits he uses with which rod based on it’s location in the setup and what kind of line he uses with those rods respectively.
